Singapore: day 3 and wrap up
For our final day for the whole trip, we started at buffet breakfast and a pool swim. Which, considering the entirety of our trip has been spent doing this, it seems fitting. We played pool basketball and volleyball and Ethan had a kids attendant show him some games so Darcy and I got a short short break. We checked out and left our bags at the hotel while we caught a 20min cab to the lovingly named Arab Rd near a beautiful mosque. We walked the very cool streets and found endless Korean toy and Photo Booth stores. Yeah, stores decked out in themed photo booths, and that’s it. We had a coffee and then a storm rolled in. It kept bucketing for quite a while so we caught a cab back to the hotel to freshen up and then went to the airport.
We purposefully rocked up at about 2 even though our flight was not until 8 because we knew we wanted to explore Changi and The Jewell shopping centre nearby. The famous one with the waterfall in the middle. They really do love an indoor garden and waterfall here! But it is pretty cool, and like I said, tourist attractions are good for a reason. We went up to the top to taken Ethan on the bouncy trampolines that overlook the whole garden. It was fun and tiring and sweaty! We did the slides and a mirror maze too. A really cool way to end things for Ethan at this age.
We cooled off at a cafe and had some cold drinks and hot chips and had a Quick Look at the shops.
By this time it was evening so we went airside and walked the huge airport. I told Ethan about the movie theatre and we sat inside for 10min or so. Then we caught two trains to where our gate was and sat for a little bit before boarding.
We had premium economy but we might as well have been sitting in the wing of the plane as the flight was a disaster. Ethan refused to sleep, and so therefore none of us did. I think I got 20min between 1:50 & 2:10am before tantrum number three. If we had regular economy we could have put the arm rests up and he could have laid flat, but these stupid seats wouldn’t let us so we all suffered! We arrived as zombies and went straight to sleep for about 4 hours and that was that! Can’t let the whole trip be let down by one bad night…
And usually at the end of my blog I like to wrap up the highlights. So culturally there was heaps to choose from, like the palace in Jaipur, Bangalore Divali fireworks, and the spice plantation in Goa. For food, again we were spoiled for choice, but we loved Jamavar in Bangalore, the fisherman’s wharf in Goa, Palladio in Jaipur for the atmosphere and XYT in Singapore. I also loved the speakeasy in Bangalore, and Spago in Singapore for drinks. We had such an amazing time and are looking forward to the next time we visit India in a few years. Thanks for reading!
