Travel day 3
I hate travel days. Anyone that’s ever travelled for work knows how dull airports are, and taxis, and security checkpoints. They stress me out. So on the way to the airport to head back to Bangalore we stopped at a pottery studio and watched how the pieces were made and bought a couple of things. Then, it was just the mundane of getting through security, waiting at the gate, catching the little bus, and then takeoff, flying and landing. The attendants said Ethan was a well mannered passenger and made him a little card thanking him for the trip. They asked to take a photo with him and gave him a candy bar. So sweet!
,One of my travel requirements was that upon each landing we have the hotel organise a transport. It bothers me having to land and then figure out a taxi or train or whatever. But to have someone stand there with your name fills me with confidence. The Leela, however, charged us about $200 to get to the hotel last time, and since we’d successfully navigated Ubers during our last stay, we agreed to cancel that transport and Uber it in… about $40 in comparison. We ordered an Uber Premium and hopped in - the driver didn’t speak much English which is totally fine, but he wanted to convey something to us, but we honestly couldn’t understand. I tried to let him know the hotel might translate, but I don’t think he knew what I meant. The windows didn’t work in the car, nor did the aircon, so we “enjoyed” the breeze on the hour long trip while Ethan slept in the backseat unfortunately in the hot sun across from Darcy. We arrived, and I asked the valet if he wanted to speak with our driver. Neither of them spoke, so, maybe it was all fine? Not sure what that was about but it seemed more important when he was trying to ask me.
We were checked into the same room as we had last time and went straight down to the pool to cool off and have some hot chips & a beer. Then before dinner we had a cocktail at the outdoor bar that had been freshly fumigated for mozzies. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant Jamavar and sampled a few local dishes - so very tasty! It is nice to be back at this familiar hotel and back in Bangalore for a few more days!
That is such a sweet story about Ethan and the plane trip. Loving your journal💕💕
